Hey folks,

Some of you have probably already seen, but the blog has officially moved over to my portfolio site at Do me a favor and poke around in there. Let me know what you think. I've already put up some new work and there is much more to come.

Also, Twitter me, people. Don't make me ask you again and I'll promise to never complain about the traffic.

Much Love,

Your daily moment of Zen and twitter (reluctantly)

yep, i gave in

Also, since it's been too long, your sporadic moment of zen. This one comes from Xavier Chassaing at the bucket of deliciousness that is vimeo. It is an experimental film made up of over 35,000 photographs which combines an innovative mix of stop motion and live projection mapping techniques.

Also, the new site is live, though sparsely populated. Feel free to poke around - and bookmark that puppy since it will soon swallow this blog. *gulp*

much love,

Hey All,

First off, massive thanks to those who picked up a JustForFun print, dropped me a line, featured the print on your blog or submitted it to digg (!!). You guys seriously rock my world and making you happy makes me happy, so let's be friends.

For those who are still looking to pick one up, there are some prints availalble in the shop.

On another note, I've been inhumanely busy lately so I'll keep it short. I've mentioned the glory that is COLLABO here before, and we're going to be providing a little electrovisual stimulation for the crowd at HARD 13 tonight.

If you're in the LA area, stop by and show us some love by dancing your booty off in front of me.

For show details, check out the HARDFEST Website

Peace and Love

UPDATE: Just in case you folks were wondering how I spend my Friday nights, here is some video from the event. Our crew, from left to right was Kristal, Cayla, Shane, Christel, and myself behind the camera. Make sure you stick around til the 1:10 mark to see five thousand kids rock out.

Supershiny new website in the works....

Hey all,

Just a quick update on what's new with the artsauce.

I've been working on a new website for.... like 8 months now (the ridiculous timeframe can be attributed to both the fact that it was not a huge proprity as well as I went through like a million iterations and a lot of experimentation with different interfaces and the use of content management systems.) It's been a learning experience. :)

The final version is just about ready to launch and I'm super stoked because it will combine my current portfolio site along with the blogging capabilities of this puppy all while having sex with WordPress. This will take care of the updating and labeling and searching and archiving all while keeping me out of digging around in code. *glee!*

As most of you probably know, we're doing a Print Release next week of Just For Fun so, considering my less-than-perfect web-ninja record, I'm going to hold off actually launching the thing until the traffic settles. However, do check back in a couple of weeks to see how it turned out.

Photos of the Just For Fun print *and its super secret variants* will be up over the weekend!!!

Much love,

Your daily moment of Zen

The name of the installation is Multiverse, and it was installed by artist Leo Villareal in a 200-foot-long tunnel in the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. The entire thing features 41,000 LEDs that animate and move on their own, using randomness to ensure that no one will see the same configurations twice. Multiverse will be on display throughout 2009.

The video has no sound, so feel free to loop it to your favorite tune and zone out.

Your daily moment of Zen

I came across this beautiful ad today. I love to see traditional animation techniques taken to the next level by integrating them with photography and video. The flow in this clip is fantastic, and down-right mesmerizing... as long as you watch it with the volume down because, unfortunately, it's selling investments.

The youtube clip doesn't do it justice. See a much better version at

Just an FYI

Hey All,

Quick update: There is a new print that will be coming in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for it! We're planning to do a sale in the first week of March, and I'll be posting a preview of it soon.

Also, we do still have a few On Your Mark prints left, so now is your chance to pick one up if you haven't already.

Cruise on over to the SHOP to get your hands on one!

UPDATE: I've had a few people tell me they had problems with our shop site. In my quest to discover the culprit, I've come to find that my super sneaky web-ninja skills may be to blame. So I've turned off all frames and redirected things where they need to go, so everything should be dandy now.

Now, I'll be off to study how to be a web-ninja without breaking things.

A little inspiration

Today I watched one of the TED talks given by Elizabeth Gilbert on the topic of genius. Specifically the difference between the modern conception of BEING genius, versus the historical notion of HAVING genius. I found it quite enlightening.

The video is about 20 minutes long, but definitely worth watching.

Elizabeth Gilbert on Genius

I think it is important to recognize the role that inspiration plays in the creative process. Of course, to large degree, every work of art/literature/performance is attributable to the skill of the artist, but the intangible truth of inspiration often contributes just as much to the work. There is surely a difference between a craftsman and an artist.

Inspiration, by definition is an unconscious burst of creativity. While we have no qualms as a society accepting the idea that inspiration exists, we somehow expect to attribute all of the responsibility of the final product to the artist. This is where this talk really strikes a chord with me.

Having been in the position where the anxiety of fleeting inspiration sets in, it's certainly a welcome concept to be able to lay some of that responsibility on an outside influence, however intangible and obscure the influence may be.

Sketchbook Lovin'

Hi All,

I was going through documenting some of my work the other day, and decided to take some shots of past and current sketchbooks. I'm going to post some of the spreads here just for fun, so you can all get a little glimpse of the crap that comes out of my head.

Three today, more later. :)

a little bit of random

This is a little something I pieced together from photos I took in Las Vegas last month. There was an unbelievable amount of construction going on.

Original image is 14,400px wide and weighs 856MB. It is composed of 6 photos stitched together. My computer is such a trooper for putting up with me.
