Updates and NYE!

Hi all,

Quick update for those of you still waiting on prints - they are all labeled, packed, wrapped, stamped and set to go. They will be mailed out tomorrow on the 30th, so you can expect them early next week.

If any of you are in the Los Angeles area, come hang out with me at the GIANT MAXIMUS New Year's Eve extravaganza in downtown! A portion of the COLLABO crew, myself included, will be mixing live visuals on the DESTRUCTO STAGE! Look for a bunch of kids dressed in white looking happy. :)

If you're unable to make it, I wish you a fantastic night wherever you happen to be!

Much love,

Something a little different....

Hey everyone. I've been on a bit of a hiatus recently, but wanted to update you all with what's new. Been working on a little film project with some people from my department to create some set pieces. The simple description is these images are supposed to look like 1950's advertisements for such exciting things as TV dinners, toothpaste and cigarettes. Two of the images I helped make are below, and I'll post finals when I get them. Photography by Christopher Greco featuring Ava Bogle and Will Rothhaar.

We looked at a ton of ads from that era and tried to figure out what made them look the way they did. My job was basically to paint over the original photos to give them a handmade look. Enjoy.

HARD

Hey everyone,

So Portland was a blast. Special thanks goes to Laura, Matt and Beth, Katsu, and the entire Compound Crew for making the trip what it was and showing me a fantastic time. I've sold a few paintings and some prints which is pretty good for someone as noobsauce as me and it has been a completely surreal, totally awesome experience.

I've got a few projects in the works at the moment, the most current of which is being part of a VJ collective loosely named the Collaboratory. We will be performing at the HARD Music Festival on the 19th of this month. The show is headlined by N.E.R.D and MSTRKRFT and one of my personal favs, Jason Bentley who rocks KCRW in the evenings.

The whole project is still in its infancy, so none of us really know what to expect. The basic concept is we will be providing all of the visuals behind the DJ's all night. The footage is all compiled by us, and the videos are mixed live. If you're planning to attending, drop me a line!

portland...

is beautiful, and their coffee is fantastic.

Everything is set up for the show, and I'm totally stoked to be here for it. I'm also happy to announce that I finished that last piece and am really happy with the result. Pics below!

July 3rd!

Hey all,

The Compound Gallery show is coming up this Thursday, July 3rd and being the uuberprocrastimanator that I am, the largest, newest piece for the show is sitting in the corner, half done, glaring at me. The world of shipping has not been kind and I am still scrambling to find a place to stay while I'm in Portland.

That said, if you're in the area, please stop by and check out my work along with Axelhoney, Anneli Olander, Hannah Stouffer and Juri Ueda.

The .candycoated. painting (top right on the flyer below) will be available as a limited edition digital print through the gallery. The size is about 11x17 inches and the edition is 20, signed and numbered.

On another note...

If any of you live in the Los Angeles area, or anywhere within 500 miles for that matter, I highly recommend, at some point in your life, that you attend the Electric Daisy Carnival. My friend and I made dresses (I use the term lightly) to wear for the event based on a doodle in my sketchbook. I thought it up and she thought it possible, so we spent a couple of long nights reacquainting ourselves with a sewing machine. If you are interested in seeing the sketch and the final products, leave a comment and I'll post some pics. :)

Have a fantabulous week and I hope to maybe see some of you in Portland on Thursday!

Sneak Peek V3

Apparently I'm going through a yellow phase. Another quick sneak peek at something brand new for the Compound show. This just *may* turn into the next limited edition print.... *cough*

Monday, June 23, 2008

you know you're a designer when....

You get excited about paper samples. Just got these the other day from French Paper Co. at the suggestion of Steve at D&L and they are undeniably delish. The Muscletone paper in the foreground is 140 lb cover stock was pretty much made for letterpress, packaging and screenprinting, so I'm excited to give it a whirl.

Sneak Peek v2.0

Hey Everyone,

As promised, another sneak peek. This one is not only brand new, it's not even finished yet! .chelsea. will be part of my Compound Gallery show coming up in July. It's about 10x25 in, ink and gouache on wood panel.

More to come.

Sneak Peek

While a new limited edition print is in the works, please bare with me as a shamelessly promote myself. I've got a show coming up at the Compound Gallery in Portland, Oregon opening this July. Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be posting images of some of the original works that will be on display. Some of these can be found in my portfolio, but a few are brand-spankin-new.

First up, .candycoated. and .stickysweet.

Don't you just want to eat them?!
Both are ink and gouache on toned paper, 9x12in.

More to come...
